Compeer Program

Compeer = companion + peer + equal

The Compeer Program is a community support service operated by MHA. Compeer recruits, trains, places and supervises caring volunteers, who are matched with peers that have a mental illness. Food, Fun and Friends Parties, live music four to six times a year; free for matches. Compeer participants agree to meet for one hour a week or four hours a month. Some of the activities they participate in include:

  • Movies*
  • Theater*
  • Lunches*
  • Concerts*
  • Sporting events*

* Made available through donations

Compeer also provides:
Group Volunteers, the Friends For a Day Program, Family Compeer, and opportunities for Anti-Stigma, Life Skills and Socialization Training. There are 168 hours in a week…can you spare one?
