Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Full and/or Part Time     

Responsibilities: Work in a private, not-for-profit community agency which provides a spectrum of mental health and addiction services for a diverse population including education and advocacy, supervised and supportive residential, day treatment and socialization, case management, school based and recovery services. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide health services to individuals recovering from mental illness and/or substance abuse.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:  diagnosing, treating, evaluating and managing acute and chronic illness; obtaining medical histories; prescribing pharmacologic treatments and therapies; counseling and educating patients on health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment options; assessing and acting upon immediate medical problems; submitting paperwork in a timely manner and additional duties as assigned.

Requirements: Must be eligible or have a current Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner NYS license and registration. Experience working with individuals who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and/or substance abuse a plus. Experience working with a diverse population.  Experience with EMR software a plus. Current driver’s license needed.
